I will be honest I’ve never heard of corduroy until I came to the United States. I don’t recall if I ever owned any or what I called them, maybe velvet or “kind of Velvet thingy”. No matter what I would have certainly stayed away from it as I did with velvet all my life, thinking they are not for curvy girls (like myself). If you think the same way, then this post is certainly for you to prove that corduroy are definitely a Yes for curvy girls.
How to choose Corduroy bottoms for curvy body type
Cord material is heavy and tends to give a fitted look on the body due to which you might look a little chubby. So the point here to avoid fitted style on the areas you tend to carry more weight.
A few things to note before buying a corduroy bottom-
- If you carry more weight on hips (pear shape) like me, opt for flare and mid-length skirts.
- If you carry more weight over the tummy or waistline (apple shape), avoid low-waisted pants as they will accentuate your belly and make it look bigger. The idea is to go for mid-waist like I did here, so it’s not too snug and gives you a balanced look.
- Boot cut and flare jeans also look good on curvy body type (esp pear shape) as they create a long line from hip to toe. While buying make sure they fit snug around the thighs.
This skirt is amazing for curvy shape ladies as it is lightweight- doesn’t carry that cord extra weight plus it’s not fitted at all. The skirt is on sale and comes in camel and navy colors as well. The snake print booties from Free People are my absolute favorite purchase of the season. I love the mid-calf height and the color is neutral and goes well with all warm colors.
