Fall is perhaps the only season that really inspires me to fully revamp my house. I don’t know if it’s the changing colors of leaves, or the dropping temperatures making me crave for snuggly interiors or the excitement of Halloween and Diwali close by. Whatever, it is I always put by best foot forward when it comes to autumn decorations or fashion.

1. Warm up your Hues

One of the easiest and budget-friendly ways to transition your bedroom from season to season is by focusing on upgrading 1 or 2 key pieces like the bedding and curtains.

Bring those Mother Nature’s shifting leaf shades into your bedroom by simply swapping the cooler summer bedding with rich fall shades like orange, russet, purple, or yellow and patterns like plaid. The warmer colors instantly uplift the atmosphere of the room and will go well for both fall and winter

We picked up a few bedding sets from Target and tried them before settling with the Opal House orange quilt.  I love how the poms matched our blue walls and the orange quilt brightened the whole bedroom. I felt the color also complemented the greens and added boho vibes to the room.

Apart from warm colors, blush seems to be having a moment this year, which would be a perfect shade to upgrade a minimal bedroom.

To level up the coziness, add extra plush or quilted throws and incorporate fall themed thrown on pillows.

2. Personalize with a DIY Photo Wall

DIY tapestry fairy light photo memory wall | Bogo bedroom Ideas

I and Lakki had this dream of having a photo memory wall for such a long time now. We love looking at photos and reminiscing the exact feeling and emotions felt at the moment the shutter went off.

Apart from that, I also love having a wall tapestry, they revive the entire look of the bedroom. So, I decided to fuse them both and make a tapestry photo wall.

We intentionally picked a smaller tapestry to highlight the pictures and went with the same color as the bedding so it’s easy on the eyes.

You don’t have to be a DIY expert to create this. In fact, you will be surprised at how easy it is to transform a plain tapestry into a magical photo memory.  Follow my simple steps below to re-create this photo wall.

What You’ll need

How To Pull It OFF

Step 1:  Print the pictures you’re planning to hang. We printed them at a target photo printing station. They have the facility to print pictures directly from your phone or social media or external hard drive. You can choose to print them in different size and styles and can also add text. We chose polaroid size with picked a colorful background for each picture.

Step 2: Hang the tapestry forming a diamond shape on the wall and secure the four ends with push pins/nails.

Step 3: Decide how many rows of pictures you want to put and according to that, position a push pin on either end of each row. It doesn’t have to be a perfectly straight line. We used 8 push pins in total to create 4 rows of pictures.

If you are using nails instead of push pins, measure and mark each end before hammering the nails into the wall.

Step 4: Drape your fairy lights from side to side, weaving your lights back and forth over each push pin.

Step 5: Once you’re happy with the arrangements of the lights, use safety pins to hang your photos or postcards onto the fairy lights.

We used safety pins because they’re lightweight and will not pull the push pins down. You can also use pegs, but I would suggest that only you’re using nails.

tada! you’ve got a beautiful memory wall to look at every single day!

If are not into revamping the whole house for fall, you can simply make it smell like you have done something new! Chesapeake candles Heritage collection is packed with fall fragrances like the Pumpkin latte, chestnut and acorn, and woodland berry.

Since I’m sensitive to smell, these candles have been my go-to for over 2 years now, all their fragrances are amazingly concocted and balanced with natural essential oils. The fragrance is not too strong, but just enough to lift the mood. I like to get a whiff of it while walking by it.

I always have a bunch of different fragrances on my office desk and like to switch them up every day. While it’s practically impossible for me to pick a favorite from their collection, they’re all amazing. But I’m slightly biased to fresh citrus and woody fragrances and their Balsam Fir is a perfect amalgamation of both.

Bring in the fall leaves into your bedroom by hanging a fake leaves garland above your window.  We also added a cute elephant hanging decor on both sides of the window embracing our Indian culture.Best House plants that purify air and that are hard to kill
We bought this cute lill fake pumpkin from Target dollar section. I love how it brightened the corner and set the fall mood instantly.

I like to add gold accents everywhere in my house because it gives a royal look. I’m not sure if it’s noticeable, the fitted sheet has gold polka dots all over it and I used a gold-coated tray to hold all the candles, perfect way to add a metallic touch to your room.

4. Decorate with House Plants

How to Decorate your room with house plants

If you follow me on Instagram, you might already know it that I have an obsession with greenery. My dream is to have an indoor jungle in my house. Plants have a way of making any space feel bright, lively and gorgeous.

And some indoor plants like English Ivy (plant in the hanging basket), Bamboo Palm (plant in the basket), Spider plant (plant on the window), mother-in-law’s tongue (plant beside the bed in the picture below), Peace lily (plant on the dresser), Aloe vera helps in the purifying air.

Houseplants are easy to maintain since you don’t have to water them every day. The only 2 things you need to know is how much sunlight they need and how often you need to water them. You can find this information in the instruction card the plant comes with or you can always ask someone at the nursery.

I’ve shared some of the houseplants that don’t need a green thumb on one of my weekend edits (exclusive Insta-story & fb series, check the highlight “weekend edit” on my Instagram)
