Last weekend we threw a fun Halloween themed Bachelorette party for one of my friends Swapna who is getting married in November. It was an unusual Bachelorette party as we had some guy friends and the groom-to-be join the party as well. It was more of an amazing get together with loads of booze, food, games, and laughter.
We planned the party on a Saturday night so everyone who was driving from different places including myself could make it and we’ve enough time in the morning to plan, buy supplies and decorate the place. Yes, you read it right, we did everything in one morning.
5 Fun & Scary Ideas to Host a Halloween Bachelorette Party
1. Dress up
What’s a Halloween party without costumes, right? We originally planned for group costumes but since we had a very little time to plan everything, we ended up dressing up as whatever we wanted to be. Costumes can add a lot of the fun, color and Halloween flavor to the party.
If you would like to add something a little bit more themed to your Halloween bachelorette party try to organize the Masquerade ball! All black outfits wearing a mask of their choice. Or you can simply pull a dramatic face with makeup.

2. Amp up the creep factor to set the Halloween mood
This was one of the fun parts of hosting a Halloween themed bachelorette party. Shopping for supplies, planning and bringing it to life was incredibly satisfying and exhausting at the same time. Since we only had a few hours to do everything, we didn’t go for heavy DIYs, instead, we used everything we bought tactically.

Here is the break down of everything we used and how we did it
Fake Blood-Stained Tablecloth as a Picture Backdrop
We didn’t have a plan or a prototype on how we are going to decorate the place. I simply picked up everything that fascinated me, went with the Halloween theme and within our budget from the dollar tree and party city. The tablecloth was one such thing I picked it on a whim. I thought I could use on our dining table and organize all the snacks and drinks on it. Instead, I used it as a backdrop for the spider web which was also perfect as a photo backdrop.
Fake Spider Web Webbing
I chose a fluorescent spider web thinking they would glow in the dark but it didn’t happen. Thankfully we had the party lights that did the glowing job for us. Out of the packet, fake spider web looks like a large cotton ball. All you need to do it is stretch it across and secure it with a push pin or tape.
One packet of spider web was more than enough for us to decorate the ceiling and the staircase. You can add fake spiders over it to make it look more real.
Glow in dark Fake spider web with mini-spiders
Creepy decors like skulls, spiders, rats, etc.
Spice up the fireplace with spooky decors like fake skulls, rat vinyl wall murals, spiders, bats, black pumpkins, bloody fake foot, and handprint stickers, a blood-stained knife, etc.
Caution Fright Tapes
Turn your front door into a spooky “do not enter” crime scene or zombie zone with caution tapes. We hung the remaining tape on the ceiling to give a fuller look
Fall/ Halloween Themed Banner for the Fireplace
Banners are my favorite way to decorate the fireplace. They instantly brighten up the place. We were lucky to find this boo banner that resembled both fall and Halloween.
Bloody Paper Plates as Wall Murals
I didn’t want to leave the sidewall empty so we taped some balloons and stuck paper plates that actually looked like bloody handprints in between the balloons. Next time when you are out of party decorations, use the paper plates and cups to create something.
3. Create a Scary Entrance for the Bride and Groom-to-Be
We hung this gigantic skull at the entrance. As soon as someone enters the house, it’s the first spooky thing they will notice and hopefully get scared.
By the time the bride and groom to be entered the house, we turned off all the lights except the party lights and hid in the other room. Once they entered the house, they bumped into this creepy skeleton and were stunned. All the guys who dressed up in evil costumes came out and slayed their wickedness. Then the party started with everyone coming out and congratulating the bride and groom to be.

4. Bride-to-be Props
Since the bride and groom were already in costumes, the only thing we bought was a “Future Mrs” sash for the bride-to-be and a groom-to-be pin. Even though it was a party for both bride and groom, we’re little biased to the bride so GO TEAM BRIDE 🙂

5. Classy and Fun Bachelorette Game Ideas
Bar Hopping
Bar hopping is an amazing way to kick off your Halloween themed bachelorette party. You can show off your costumes plus enjoy looking & guessing other people’s costumes. We bar crawled for an hour or so in the downtown for an hour and came back home to play the rest of the games
The Groom Quiz
Test the bride-to-be’s knowledge of her future husband with a groom quiz game. Send a list of questions to the groom and ask him to write down his answers. Then, at the party, read the questions out loud and have the bride-to-be share her answer. If both the answers match m then the bride gets a point. This game was really fun since we got to know the couple little better.
We did the same thing for the groom, asked the bride to answer a few questions and then asked those questions to the groom-to-be in the party. Whoever scored the highest points was the winner and can dare his/her fiancé to do something for them.
Some of the questions we asked are-
- Where did you 2 first meet?
- Who among you calms down or says sorry first after a fight?
- What is the one thing (apart from your fiancé ‘) you will take with you in a fire?
- What is your favorite place to eat out together?
- What is your parent’s name?
- How long have you been in a relationship?
- What quality does your fiancé like the most in you?
- What is your favorite color?
The Icebreaker “Who Among Us” Drinking Game
This was a fun game. The rules are simple. You sit in a circle, the bride to start the game asking a question like “who among us can dance butt naked?” then everyone has to point their finger on the person they think can actually do it. The person who gets the maximum votes takes a shot and then asks another question.
We can have the questions ready for them to pick if they can’t think of anything. This game can go really dirty based on the questions you ask.
Post It Note Memory Game
Give everyone a post-it note and ask them to write a sweet/ funny /weird/ embarrassing memory they have with the bride. When everyone is done, place all the post-it notes on a wall for the bride to read and guess who write it. She also has to explain the story to the rest of the group. If you think the bride can guess your handwriting, ask someone else to write it for you.
