Happy Sharavan / Sawan month to all my Indian married readers!
It’s my first Varalakshmi Vratham today post-wedding. My mom has been reminding me about today for the past month, so there is no way I can ever forget it. Did you celebrate today?
Varalakshmi Vratam (“Vara means blessing, “Lakshmi” is the Goddess of Wealth and Vartam means fast) is celebrated in the Shraavana Masam, July – August on the Second Friday or the Friday before Poornima (full moon day)by married women in the states of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Tamil Nadu for the well being of their family and the long life of their husband.
On this day worshiping goddess Varalaksmi is equal to the worship Ashtalakshmi who are the eight goddesses of Wealth, Earth, Wisdom, Love, Fame, Peace, Liking and Strength.
Well, I didn’t get a chance to wear a traditional outfit today because I had to go to the office. I wore this traditional gold ensemble last weekend for the temple. I combined altogether 3 different pieces to create this whole lehenga choli look. I am wearing a saree blouse as a crop top and an off-white skirt as lehenga and finished it with a gold silk dupatta (Scarf).
My heels are from Crimzon, India. These are the shoes I wore for my wedding. I am also wearing the glass bangles I wore at my wedding as well.
For my hair, I did a half-french braid ponytail, the back was too wide so the ponytail felt like a great option to cover the open back.
