Sharing my current thoughts and what I am How to Prioritize and DePrioritize your Life While Navigating your New Normal

Anyone else is demotivated and finding it hard to concentrate?

It has taken me more than a month to figure out what really works for me: Finally when I had a routine and thought I got a hang of this quarantine life. It started to fall apart.

I have no motivation to create content, read, or go on a walk, things I enjoy doing the most. I am either glued to my laptop doing office work or on my phone passing time. I sense it’s my coping mechanism telling me to shut off my thoughts and feelings.

I am starting to believe that we will more likely be moving into a new normal rather than going back to normal!

And I think it’s taking a toll on me. When the bubble bursts, it hurts but it’s also liberating at the same time …

I probably need one good productive day to feel better (productive days are my antibiotics, I know I have an addiction!) or a marathon of feel-good movies or jotting down things I don’t miss while staying indoor. I will get there, I will accept you “the new normal”

In the process of navigating to the new normal, I’m prioritizing and deprioritizing heavily. I have been constantly analyzing and noting down what I need to change and what’s really important to me.

What to Prioritize at the Moment:

Physical Health

thanks to the #dl10kchallenege, I have an active goal to reach every single day. Ever since I have started this challenge, I have gotten creative about finding ways to stay active.

Mental Health

I am sincerely trying to get back to yoga and meditation, 10 mins of Surya Namaskaram (Sun salutation) in the morning can do wonders to your spirit and body.

My day job

My office recently announced a pay cut for all of us. I am grateful to have a job at all during this economic crisis. I am going to use my work hours wisely, and take up extra work and responsibility if needed.

Create Evergreen Content

I love creating lifestyle content but oftentimes the trending fashion posts take precedence now that the focus has shifted slightly, I want to concentrate writing content that remains pertinent, regardless of passing time and changing trends (both fashion and lifestyle). Get excited, a lot of good content coming your way!

Unpacking and organizing the house

It’s been already a month since we moved to our new house. I haven’t unpacked a ton of things. As days go by, I get anxious about not being able to finish everything before I start going to the office again.

Learn and create new recipes

If there is something quarantine got out of me is the fact that I can enjoy cooking too. Before the pandemic, cooking was a task I would dread now I kind of enjoying it. Probably by the end of this, I might end up saying “I love cooking” lol! I want to thoroughly utilize this time to learn or develop quick recipes that would come in handy post-quarantine.

Spend more time with family and make memories in the new house

As a first-time house owner, we are lucky to have this much time to settle down and savor the house. We have been taking our time to read and research before tackling something. The slow morning and weekends with no obligations (enjoyable ones but still obligations) to rush between have been a bliss. We also have been spending more time on our backyard and face timing with our parents and niece and nephews. They are certainly some downtime every now and then but we try to not stick their long.

Reading and Learning new skills

I have been trying to spend an hour or 2 every day to sharpen my skills or learn something new. Whether it’s watching videos on gardening or how to take better food pictures to read uplifting posts online.

What to De-prioritize at the Moment:

Obsessively checking Pinterest for home decor inspiration

Since we are in a save mode. It has been hard to control my urge to buy anything online and looking at all the home decor is making it worst for me.

TV time

I have an addiction to binge-watching. If I start any TV show I have to end it within a day or the week meaning I spend every waking minute on the couch. I am staying away from starting any new shows and only watch movies when I have the time.

Instagram

As a content creator and someone who follows a lot of people. It’s really hard to limit my screen time on Instagram now more than ever since everyone is home and online all the time. As a content creator, you feel the need to be present and overproduce, and the rest of the time you are there to check what your favorite accounts and friends are up to. I use this digital timer to limit my time online whether it’s browsing the net or watching stories on IG.

Thinking more and more about Future

I usually take one day at a time but given the scenario, it’s to think about ahead. I am trying to focus on securing the things I have right now instead of worrying about what tomorrow holds.

If you have come this far, thank you for reading. What started as an IG post caption and turned into this long blog post on what to prioritize and de-prioritize in life. I let my thoughts flow and penned it! I am glad I did, I feel free and confident again. If you are feeling stuck or demotivated, write down how you feel or talk to someone, saying it out helps you to focus and obtain Clarity.

p.s. Can you guys guess how many colors and prints I mixed in this outfit?
