What do you think of dark bedrooms? I personally love them. I think dark bedrooms create a cozy and calming ambiance that is perfect for a good night’s rest. Having said that, dark rooms can look gloomy if not styled properly, to avoid that add contrast or bold pops of color in the furnishings or accessories.
The dark shades that go great with bedrooms are charcoal grey, dreamy blue, emerald green, terracotta, and black.
Here are a few dark bedroom ideas on how to incorporate darker shades to fit your style– be it bohemian, vintage or contemporary.
Dark Bedroom Ideas for a Cozy and Dramatic Look
1. Blue Walls Boho Bedroom
This was my bedroom when I used to live with my best friend. Well, you can call the styling bohemian but my idea was to bring in desi (Indian) vibes. The best way to do it is by adding bright color in the shade of coral, yellow, and blue or by opting for handloom prints like ikkat. And of course, I need to have my plants, all of them are real, I don’t do faux plants (at least for now). If you are looking for affordable bohemian bedding or decor, check out Opal House designs at Target. 2. Color One Wall Dark
This bedroom has the right balance of dark and airy colors with subtle prints and textures with the rug, chandelier, and woven basket.
3. Emerald Green Accent WallÂ
Emerald green works beautifully as a paint color for any room in your home, or even just as an accent wall. It pairs particularly well with black and white, grey, rich caramel-colored leathers, and natural wood tones. If you have an odd shape bedroom, doing an accent wall will take away the attention from the structure to the wall.
4. Charcoal Grey Grid Wall
I love the charcoal grey with wood accents. Everything is so well balanced with a subtle pop of orange. This design has also been popular on IG. I have seen other bloggers mimicking it.
5. Dark on Dark
Instead of paint, you can use a darker grasscloth wallpaper and match it with darker furniture to give a dramatic yet cozy look.
6. Complete Blue Out
Create a moody backdrop by painting both the walls and floor blue and match it with soft crumpled bedding to create a soothing ambiance.
7. Paint the Floor Dark
Painting the wall is obvious, for a change paint the floor instead. This idea is great if your walls are taken up by windows. Match a pillow or throw with the floor for a cohesive look.
8. Airy Soft Grey Wall
A beautiful amalgamation of soft colors and contemporary decor.
9. Black and White Brick Wall
Black brick is so dramatic and rustic. If you are into the rustic decor, this idea might inspire you to change your bedroom.
10. Multi Tones and Elements
A wall of brick shines beside plywood and painted charcoal. What a beautiful mix of different colors and patterns.
11. Black Wall with Cane Bed Frame
Elegant and dreamy. The printed curtain really lifted the dark tones while the cane bed creates a sense of balance.
12. Murky Green Wall
The murky green wall, artwork and the grey bedding brings in the cozy mood while the white stand and printed white pillow adds a nice pop of color without disturbing the mood.
