One of my favorite wardrobe staples is the scarf -a timeless and fun accessory to add color and texture to your outfit, and who doesn’t like an excuse to wrap up in a blanket on cold winter days?
If you struggle with how to style wear a blanket scarf, this post is for you. I’ve added videos for every look to make it easy for you to follow. I also added pointers and styling tips on how to pair the blanket scarf with the outfit. As always all the outfits are modest, stylish, easy to recreate, and contemporary
How to Style and Match a Blanket Scarf with your Outfits
What is a Blanket Scarf?
An oversized scarf that’s about as big as a small blanket is called a blanket scarf.
The main difference between the regular and blanket scarf is the size. Apart from that regular scarves are rectangular in shape, blanket scarves can be either square or rectangle in shape. The rectangle blanket scarves are the trendiest scarves of the season.
1. The Toss
Fold your scarf in half and let each side fall straight down the front of your body, now toss one end over the opposite shoulder wrapping around your neck and let the opposite end hang all the way.
How to style it- Let the scarf be the hero of the outfit by keeping the outfit simple. The patterned scarf will elevate any plain or monochromatic outfit.

Tissue Turtleneck (these are great for layering, thin and soft)

Spanx Jeans (fits amazing and flattering; last seen here)
Boots (old, this year version of the same style here; also recommend these and these)
2. The Double Loop
Throw the blanket scarf around your neck, leaving one size longer than the other. Wrap the longer size around the neck and bring it back to the front and tuck the end into the loop. Now take the opposite side and slip it through the loop.
How to style- match your outfit with the scarf by picking the colors from the scarf. But don’t be afraid to style patterned scarves with other patterned apparel. I added a textured blazer in the same hue to pull everything together.

3. Loop & tie
The process is similar to the double loop instead of tucking the end, you cross the tail ends in front of you and knot them.
How to style- Pick the scarf in a complimenting color to your outfit. Complimentary colors create a beautiful contrast and elevate your outfit. It’s also a fun way to add color to your outfit.

4. The loop-through
The classic loop that probably everyone knows how to wear. Fold your scarf in half and drape it around your neck. Now take both ends through the loop and pull through.
How to style- Let the scarf pop. When you button the coat, the scarf adds a nice pop of color to the monochrome look.
