Having a clean and organized home is one of the ways I am showing self-love this year. You guys know I prefer cloth towels over paper towels to reduce waste and only use non-toxic cleaning products! I recently switched from regular cloth to Microfiber cloth for cleaning after learning about mechanical cleaning through Norwex.
If you are new to the brand, the Norwex Safe Haven 5 bundle is the perfect starter Package. It includes the five most popular Norwex products, that can be used to clean the entire house, and together with water, you can reduce over 80 chemicals in your home.
Mechanical Vs Chemical Cleaning
Mechanical Cleaning- Instead of relying on chemicals, Norwex uses physical power to clean. Norwex Microfiber lifts, grabs, and traps dirt and grime, and can remove 99% of bacteria from the surface using only water.
Chemical Cleaning- chemical-based wipes and cleaners work to sanitize or disinfect but they leave behind a harmful residue.
Norwex Safe Haven 5 Bundle- The Sustainable and Non-toxic Products to Clean Your Entire House
Why I switched to Norwex
- Clean using only water – and still remove 99% of bacteria!
- Zero waste– clothes are reusable and last for years. Many of the Norwex microfiber products are made of 70% recycled materials. This means that anywhere from 2 to 5 plastic bottles are reused in these products when they are manufactured.
- Non-toxic- Microfiber loosens dust, dirt, and debris from the surface and takes it off the surface without the use of chemicals. Using fewer chemicals equates to fewer plastic bottles and better air quality! Also, Norwex Microfiber cloths are OEKO-TEX certified.
- Save time- Norwex cleans faster than chemical leaners – with just water!
- Save money-Norwex looks pricey upfront, but these clothes last forever with little care (scroll down to see how to take care of them) since you can clean using just water and reuse the cloth, again and again, you can save a ton on cleaners and paper towels!
What About Microfiber Pollution?
Microfiber pollution refers to the pieces of plastic – called microplastics – that shed off our microfibers in the laundry, and later emerge in marine and freshwater environments. These microplastics then cause pollution, as well as injury and death to local wildlife and marine life.
Norwex Microfiber is made from polyester and polyamide (both synthetic materials), any breakdown of these materials in the wash can cause it to shed. But here’s some good news! Because Norwex Microfiber is so tightly woven it actually sheds very little.
In fact, testing shows that after 200 washes an EnviroCloth loses only .026 of an ounce. When compared with the weight of the plastic packaging of most typical cleaning products, Norwex Microfiber is a much more sustainable option.

How to Wash and Take Care of your Norwex Cloth
- Between uses, scrub cloth against itself under running water, then wring out tightly & hang to dry.
- To launder, I use the Norwex Ultra Power Plus Laundry Detergent to wash in the washer and air dry it. Norwex Microfibre can be placed in a moderate dryer up to 60°C.Follow these rules when washing in the washing machine:
A. Do not use bleach, fabric softener, or dryer sheets when laundering microfibres as these additives coat the surface of the fibers and reduce the microfibre’s ability to clean effectively.
B. Do not launder with linty loads, such as terry towels. - For deep stubborn stains or odors, Norwex Microfibre can be boiled for 2-3 minutes to allow fibers to swell and release the debris.
- Do not use Norwex Microfibre on hot surfaces or cookware
