I gave my wedding reception lehenga a stylish update by pairing it with the ‘it’ jacket of the season – the cropped blazer. I’ve always loved keeping up with a few fashion trends, and this year, the cropped blazer trend has become my absolute favorite. Their chic and elegant look had me eagerly waiting to give it a desi twist. Originally, I had planned to wear it to a New York Fashion Week (NYFW) show I was invited to, but unfortunately, I couldn’t make it. Fortunately, the Navratri series gave me the perfect occasion to wear this unique ensemble. Otherwise, my beloved lehenga would have remained in my wardrobe, collecting dust.

Navratri is one of the few festivals celebrated across India with equal devotion. This nine-night festival is dedicated to worshiping the divine feminine, and each day is associated with a different form of the goddess Durga with a specific color. Here are the colors for Navratri 2023:

  • Oct 15, 2023- Orange
  • Oct 16, 2023- White
  • Oct 17, 2023- Red
  • Oct 18, 2023- Royal Blue
  • Oct 19, 2023- Yellow
  • Oct 20, 2023- Green
  • Oct 21, 2023- Grey
  • Ocr 22, 2023- Purple
  • Ocr 23- 2023- Peacock Green
  • Oct 24, 2023- Dusserha

Navratri Day 4 is dedicated to Goddess Kushmanda, who is believed to bring warmth, light, and prosperity into the lives of her devotees. To honor her, people often adorn themselves in shades of blue.

This outfit will make a fantastic choice for a wedding guest. It’s unconventional but truly stunning. Fusing traditional and contemporary elements creates a captivating look bound to turn heads at any event. The cropped blazer adds a touch of modern sophistication to the timeless elegance of the lehenga, making it an ensemble that’s both unique and fashionable.

The belt further enhanced the look and created a defined waistline. This small accessory provided a structure to the ensemble while elevating the overall appearance. I completed the outfit with a statement 925 silver necklace and earrings. The striking jewelry complemented the outfit and enhanced the overall festive feel. It’s a beautiful way to infuse glamour and tradition into your look.
