Today I am sharing a Toddler sick day meal that my mom made when I was a kid – Ajwain Rice/Vaamu Annam or Carrom Rice! Since V started daycare, he has been getting sick every other week, and then we get sick after he recovers; it’s been a vicious cycle. We have at least one of us down with a cold and cough every day for the past couple of months. So, I have been making this recipe on rotation or adding a tiny bit of Ajwain in the parathas that pack in his lunchbox.
Toddler Sick Day Meal- Ajwain Rice/Vaamu Annam/Carrom Rice
Ajwain or carrom seeds are known to give relief from cold & cough as well as clear mucus. It is also known to relieve indigestion, bloating, and gas.
This wholesome seed, when added to cooked rice, along with basic tempering and veggies like carrots and peas, makes the ajwain rice aromatic, flavourful, and healthy. This is a toddler and adult-friendly recipe that the whole family can enjoy. It pairs well with yogurt on the side or some homemade chicken nuggets to up the protein!
