Cardigans are my favorite layering piece all year long. They have the power to instantly elevate any outfit. I use cardigans for various purposes:
- As an additional layer
- To add a pop of color and interest to any outfit
- To tone down a vibrant dress or pants with a neutral color cardigan.
- To transition summer tops into colder months.

I have listed all my favorite cardigans that I would personally buy from Amazon and a few from other stores. I have divided them based on the length- short, medium and long and shared some inspiration looks for each category below.
1. Short Cardigan
If there is one piece most girls have in her wardrobe is a short cardigan. They are timeless, you can wear them buttoned up as a sweater or as a layering piece to top off a sleeveless dress or top.
This camel color crew neck cardigan is so hard to find. It go with almost everything! I strongly recommend getting this color if you don’t already own one. My favorite place to shop for short cardigans is the J.crew factory. I own several of this cardigan in various colors. I wear them all throughout the year. They are very well made and look high end.

2. Mid-Length Cardigans
Medium length cardigans, this, this and this are my favorite. I love how well they drape, making outfits chic and relaxed at the same time. Mid-length cardigans look super chic paired with dresses and boots.
3. Long Cardigans or Duster
Long cardigans are a great way to upgrade a casual top. They are also perfect for traveling. When you are on a plane, train or in the car, you want something light, warm, and comfy, and a long cardigan is it.
The material on this long cardigan is thin so you can wear it in Summer as well. I love this knit brown cardigan, it’s perfect for the weather right now.
