Ahh, it feels so good to finally write these words down. It was the toughest secret to keep as I wanted to blurt it out the moment we knew! Since it’s our first baby we wanted to wait till we got into my second trimester to share our pregnancy announcement with extended family, close friends, and coworkers. Social media felt like a big leap, and frankly, I didn’t want to rush it.
Our Pregnancy Announcement
Last month, I thought of announcing it on my IG and then decided to wait until after we knew the gender then until after our 3rd ultrasound scan. Honestly, I would just wait until the baby is born 😀 the Indian in me never fails to scare me about the “evil eye“, reminding me to not flaunt anything good in my life because I might lose it in a minute. In India, gestation is kept secret for as long as possible to avoid the pregnancy being jinxed!
I don’t want to keep our pregnancy to ourselves anymore. I want to include you along for the journey like I always do so you guyssss
WE’RE PREGNANT! Woohoo!
Rajesh and I are very excited and nervous (insert all the feelings) to welcome our baby boy in March!
We’re convinced that Bagheera knew what was up way early in the pregnancy! He has become more affectionate and protective of me and Rajesh. He constantly smells my belly, lays with his head on my lap, and licks my face when I am not feeling well. He is a very loyal and protective dog. I am very excited to see him slobber his baby brother. We are also aware of the behavior changes dogs undergo like jealously when someone new becomes a member of the family. We are working with our dog trainer to prepare him for our new bundle of joy!
How We Told our Family About our Pregnancy
Since our parents live in India we face-timed them as we would normally do and popped the Ultrasound pic on the screen while congratulating them for becoming grandparents. My mom and dad screamed with excitement while my in-laws won’t stop smiling ever since. My mom was so happy, she kept kissing me through the phone screen and blessing me. A few weeks later I received a big package from my parents with 7 different homemade snacks/sweets. My mom made them all at home with my dad’s help. I cried a river the day I received the package. Man, how much I miss them and home!
We also told our siblings (my elder brother and Rajesh elder sister) the same day we told our parents. They guessed it when we asked them to come on Skype with their spouse and kids. I will always be grateful for both my sister-in-laws (who are amazing moms and extremely sweet) and our close friends who not only enlighten us every day with their valuable advice, they also give us the support and confidence that we are not alone and everything will turn out okay!
